I had the opportunity to work with Bob at Martin Smith Inc. He always had a positive remark or joke for me that made my day...he was a kind man.

Hey Scott... I am moved by the depth of the show and how, even without words, his spirit is illuminated.

You've got me thinking about my mom and dad...

Thanks for the inspiration.

Scott, I've never heard (read) a better, more loving tribute to anyone. What a lucky family to have so much love and joy. Your Mom is a friend of mine and co-worker for several years. I met your Dad a few times, but certainly never got to see this wonderful side of him. Sorry I missed it. Thanks again. Joanne Kerr

Wow... I never met Bob or his children but today I have been blessed as I enjoyed his smiles and the legacy of smiles he has passed onto to his family and friends.

Very nice slideshow. What an inspiring gift to share with others. Thanks from a net friend that lived in Seattle once upon a time.

Bob was always a happy guy who liked to kid everyone. When we first met at Alki I asked him what his name was and he told me George. I called him that for a long while when we were at James Madison. I left Seattle in 1964 and job transfered to Los Angeles. We return every 5 years for a school reunion. I last saw Bob in 1984 while I was visiting some friends who lived close to Bob on Admiral Way and 50th.
They called me and told me about his passing and sent me the article from the West Seattle Herald. I have fond memories of Bob and he will be missed.

I laughed all the way through the slide show as we watched Uncle Bob up to his antics. That we may all have such a zest for life and always laughter.

Bob was a special neighbor and friend. He always made me laugh as he shared family times at Cannon Beach and the history of West Seattle. I know how much he will be missed by his family and friends. He was just fun to be around. God has found a special place for Bob.

Those were such brilliant photos. There is a spirit in Bob's face, it is almost like there is a party going on behind his eyes. I wish I would have met him. I did not know Bob but I think I met a part of him by knowing Scott. Such a loving son could not but come from a loving Dad.

All my best to the Schaefer family.

Love Tracy (Charlie and Jack)

Schaefer's, Thank you for the opportunity to be part of your family. Judy has been a good representative from the Bob Schaefer clan. My thoughts are with you this week. Thanks for the laughter.

To my best friend, Judy, and your family, please know that my family and I have you in our prayers and thoughts. Being Judy's friend as I have for the last 30 years (yes, Judy, I did get out the paper towels!!), I did spend alot of time at the Schaefer household growing up. Bob always had one certain joke that he told me, which was our joke - at least I want to believe it was! It was silly, but I'll never forget it. I can hear it now and hear his wonderful laugh. Yes, Judy does get her strange, but wonderful, sense of humor from him. Anytime Judy and I wanted to go somewhere, he always drove us - I especially remember the movies and going to Coleman pool. One time at Coleman pool, I got sick and all Judy had to do was call Bob and he was right there to take me home. I think he was looking down on me Wednesday at Target as I made the mistake of going into the men's restroom - at the time I was horrified, but later, after telling Judy the story, I think he had a part in it so that I could make Judy laugh. God Bless you, Bob! I will remember our special joke and you always. Hang in there, Jude, I love you!

Dad was the funniest dad ever. He loved to play tricks on everyone, no one was left out on a joke or a gag. I think he affected many lives in a very good way. Not only was he fun, but he was always there for us. If us kids ever needed a ride anywhere at any time of the day or night- he'd be there for you. He would wait for an hour or more until you were ready to go home. He never asked us what we had done or been or even drank. Just a simple ride home. Always! It's so true. He was always there for us. I know that it will be passed down through the generations to come. That always being there for your kids. It is so important. I just would like everyone who looks at this site to know that my Dad was the best.

Love Patti (number two daughter)

We all Loved him alot and will miss him greatly.

I worked with Bob here at Martin Smith for almost 10 years. I'll never forget one of my first encounters with Bob. He was talking with another new girl in the office and me in the little kitchen in the Broderick building. Bob had this silly joke he played with a paper bag where he snapped his fingers in the bag, making you believe there was something alive in it. It had both of us screaming. (yes, we both fell for it.) He was a wonderful man with lots of good stories and jokes. He always had a one-liner at the staff breakfasts that brought the house down. We all miss him!

Dad-you were such a tremendous influence on my life. My wacky (some say strange) sense of humor and my personality totally came from you, which makes me smile. My jokes aren't as good as yours but they're getting there! Every time I laugh, I think of you and the ways you showed me how to love life. Thank you so much for being a wonderful Dad, Father-in-Law and Grandpa.

We have so many fond memories of you, but the most memorable for me is the car wash story! Ha! You'll know what I mean. I smile every time I see a car wash. And I know that you're probably still laughing in Heaven over the fact that Mike has to pay my library fines, because every library has my picture on a Wanted Poster. Alyssa told me last night that she loved the way she threw kisses at you, and hers always hit you in the face. You always made us laugh, and your memories will live on in our laughter.

Thanks again for everything, Dad. We will miss you tremendously. I'll try my best to keep up with the garden and talk to the totem poles, and feed all the birds and squirrels and all the other crazy wildlife from the park. And by the way, thanks for sending us a message with the bald eagle that visited our yard on Sunday, after you passed away. We feel you everywhere. We love you-Judy, Mike & Alyssa
